SYNOPSIS
In the final moments of his 17th year, Miklós Varga’s world has come crumbling down. His plans to run away and escape the hold of his migrant family have been brutally undone by the accidental death of his older brother, Tomi. Only Mik knows the events that led to this tragedy and as far as he can see there is only one person to blame. Himself.
He is suddenly torn between his desire to head north and start a new life with his best friend Dan and the obligation to his broken family. Can he fill the shoes of his adored sibling or is he toxic and destined to bring ruin upon everyone he loves?
TEENAGE KICKS is a journey through the minefield of adolescence as Mik searches for a way to navigate through his guilt and explosive sexuality to find the man he can be.
PRODUCTION
TEENAGE KICKS, currently in finacing, is the passion project of award-winning writer/director Craig Boreham and producer Annmaree J Bell. Between them the team has won numerous international awards for their work and their films have screened in prestigious film festivals all over the world including Berlin, Palm Springs, New York and Montreal.
TEENAGE KICKS is based on the award winning short DROWNING and will star up and coming Australian actor Miles Szanto in the role of Mik.
DROWNING has so far been selected to screen at Cinema des Antipodes at the Cannes International Film Festival, St Tropez Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles, Flickerfest, Saint Kilda Film Festival, Dungog Film Festival and won Best Film at both The Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival and the Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
